Infectious enteritis in dogs, especially in young pups, is the most common, a highly contagious, and often lethal disease principally caused by parvovirus. Enteritis is character­ized by acute, severe diarrhea, vomiting, panleukopenia, and rapid dehydration. The disease is most severe in pup­pies and can be fatal. Rapid, accurate diagnosis of canine parvovirus infection allows immediate treatment and quarantine of infected dogs.
